Homestead Gift Guide – 2023 Homestead Gift Ideas

When you are shopping for friends and family it can be tough when you don’t exactly know what they might like. I wanted to share a gift guide if you have a homesteader or aspiring homesteader in your life these gifts could really make for an amazing holiday for them.

Homesteading is about being less reliant stores and while this whole list. is recommending that you go shopping, all of the items listed are sure to last your homesteader a long time and be used over and over again.

All of the pictures and links in this block entry are clickable and we are an amazon associate. It doesn’t cost you anything but we receive a small commission from your purchase. Thank you for shopping through our links when you are interested in a product we recommend as it really helps our growing homestead and our ability to create more content.

Shop for items made from sustainable materials that can be used over and over again. Linen, cotton, and wool for clothing and socks and stainless steel, silicon, and wood for home and kitchen items.

The Sourdough Lovers

Getting started with sourdough is a gateway to homesteading and the right tools can really make the learning process much more enjoyable. This set really has EVERYTHING they need to get started and even if they already own some components and extra of any of the items in this set would not be unwelcome in any kitchen

If you are just looking for a stocking stuffer these bowl scrapers are great for any sourdough or bread baker.

This gorgeous bread lame cutter would be a happy stocking find as well.

A dough whisk or Danish whisk are one of those bread baking items that you don’t NEED, but having one definitely makes life more convenient.

The Gardeners

Most gardeners have quite the seed stash, and a lot of us have made do with repurposing other storage items that were already in our home for seeds, but there are some very convenient and beautiful storage options out there. I really like to stick with a metal box, as mine often comes out to the garden with me and the metal makes it easy to clean.

A little add on gift… especially if you know that your favorite gardener saves their own seeds are some extra little seed envelopes.

This hat pretty accurately expresses my feelings in the spring and summer in our garden and would love to proudly wear it over my “messy bun.”

The ultimate garden beds. We LOVE these. I feel like these might last forever. So far they’ve made it through 2 seasons and are showing zero signs of wear and tear and we are hoping to add two more to our collection this spring.

The Vegetable Garden Pest Handbook is a great resource for tackling some of gardening’s biggest problems. It helps you identify pests even if you can’t see them. This book also contains some tutorials/guides for building traps and deterrents in your garden.

The Food Preservers

This was actually on my Christmas list this year. As someone with a glass top stove, and being worried about the heaviness of a pressure canner on it, the fact that electric pressure canners exist is a dream come true. This is different than a pressure cooker. This can be used to preserve foods that are not acidic enough to be water bath canned. This is a big gift that will bring food preservation to the homesteader you love for years to come.

The Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving will never not be on my gift giving list for a homesteader. I have used many recipes in this book and have never been disappointed.

A water bath canner. This granite wear one is great and what we use at our house. It also doubles as our lobster pot. It also happens to come with a lot of other canning goodies and tools.

A lot of us put off buying things that we know will make our lives easier and more convenient because we have other ways that we can also make this work, so it seems wasteful to spend our own money on, but its items like these that can become the greatest gifts. I think a nice dehydrator falls into this category. A lot of us start by dehydrating foods in the oven on a low setting, but having a separate device and freeing up oven space for that long period of time that dehydrating takes is an amazing gift!

The Homemaker

Kitchen linens. We don’t use any disposable paper products in our kitchen, so having new kitchen linens are always a blessing, whether its napkins or towels. Our older napkins and towels are getting close to “rag” status so we would love for them to be replaced with fresh ones, and a brand new or aspiring homesteader would probably love to grow their collection so that they are doing towel and napkin laundry twice a week instead of every other day.

These are some of my favorite kitchen towels that we own.

You really cant go wrong with a nice new pack of linen napkins (these ones are a cotton/linen/polyester blend) and come in a variety of colors and even a mixed set if you want to live on the wild side.

A new apron. One that is comfortable enough to wear around the house for hours. Cross back aprons really take the strain off of your neck and I cannot recommend that enough. hedley & bennett are my current “go-to.” They also have made some beautiful smock style aprons partnered with Rifle Paper Co that are available on their website.

My favorite cookbook is currently Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat. I feel like this book really hits home on the teaching you HOW to cook. It will bring your homesteader skills that they can use on a daily basis to bring delicious meals to their family’s table. This book is part textbook and part recipe book. It is a simple read with beautifully illustrated info graphics.

I really hope that this gift guide has been helpful for those of you struggling to find something that really makes the holiday special for your favorite homesteader. Let me know if you found this helpful or if you have another favorite homestead gift for me to add to the list… or to add to my wishlist for next year!
